The region is located in central Germany and is the most northerly mountain range in the country with its highest peak north of the Alps the Brocken at 1142m.
One hour to the North is Hannover, with its international airport. Bad Lauterberg is in the middle of Germany with Bremen, Hamburg, Berlin and Frankfurt all a couple of hours drive.
Bad Lauterberg is located in the southern foothills of the Harz mountains in a small valley a spa town since 1839.
The town centre - with its wide range of restaurants, bars and small exclusive shops is a couple of minutes walk. The "Vitamar" is the largest wave pool in the Harz, with its water slides, indoor and outdoor pools and and newly opened sauna complex. The Wiesenbecker Teich offers boating and outside swimming. Kirchberg Spa 5 minutes walk away offers more swimming, salt jacuzzis, saunas, tennis, bowling, and gym. After riding take advantage of 300 kms marked walking or cycling tracks through the surrounding woodland.
Well worth a visit are the medieval towns of Stolberg, Weringerode Goslar and Quedlinburg and make sure you give one of the cake and coffee shops a visit!
